Fulbright Scholarship 23-24

We got this program to study one year 23-24, the inclusive theater and performing arts under the supervision of Prof. Sally Bailey; MFA, MSW, RDT-BCT and the director of the drama therapy program at Kansas State University, School of Music, Theater and Dance (MTD).

The Fulbright Program, launched by the late U.S. Congressman William J. Fulbright in 1946, allows outstanding students, professionals, and artists around the world to study at American universities to advance their careers as well as enhance international cultural understanding.

Barrier Free Theater "The Land of Emotions"

During this class, Diana has worked as one of the performers cooperated with the performers with and without disabilities as final project of Drama Therapy classes continued preparing for 2 semesters, produced an inclusive show of the Barrier Free Theater; "The Land of Emotions" directed by Merri Bork and under the supervision of prof. Sally Bailey.

K-State’s Barrier-Free Theatre is a form of drama therapy program that invites K-State undergraduate and graduate students, as well as members of the Manhattan community, with and without disabilities, to create and perform an original stories and theatrical production together, Developed and Directed by Sally Bailey since 1999 until present.
 

Project 02

Design Two Training curriculums 

Ms. Diana accomplished preparing two curriculums ; one of them for training the artists and interested persons with disabilities in drama skills for beginners which one session as a final project has been presented during her class "Drama Therapy for older and adults" Dec, 23. 

The second one has been developed and prepared for training both Trainers, Directors or Arts and Cultural Organizations about "Disability Inclusion and Equity Training in Performing Arts" in Egypt to encourage them to include performers with disabilities in their arts performances and programs which she has presented one session as a demo in April, 23, attended by Prof. Sally Baily, Shannon Skelton, PhD, Advisor for Theatre, Associate Professor, College of Arts and Sciences and Prof. Joelle Ré Arp-Dunham, PhD, MFA, Teaching Assistant Professor, Graduate Faculty at School of Music, Theatre and Dance at K-State University.​​​​

Project 03

Dance Composition "Repeated Conversation" 

During attendance the "Dance Composition" class under the mentorship of "Prof. Kate Digby", an associate professor, and Associate Director of Dance at Kansas State University; School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, Diana directed and choreographed a blindfolded Contemporary dance piece called "Repeated Conversation" - Between Nature and War, performed by "Maddie Lowen" as one of the final projects of the class students showcased through "student spotlight concert Spring 2024" at Chapmon Theater at K-State University.
 

This showcase discusses some thoughts around what may happen when nature meets the artificial sounds of war, dedicated to both the people of Palestine and Sudan, who live the pain of war daily, and to everyone who witnessed and suffered one day from the sounds of tanks, and whose country’s map changed because of the war. 

Project 04

Field Trip "The Phamaly Theater Company"

Throughout our study in the USA, We have arranged to visit The Phamaly Theater Company at Denver, Colorado for exchanging the experiences towards the inclusive theater and performing arts with figuring out various collaboration ways in the future. 

During this field trip, "Diana" has met the company team and some inspired artists with disabilities such as; "Kalyn Heffernan", the Rapper and Activist and "Regan Linton", an Actress and Artistic Director. In addition to meeting with the Upper Management of Denver Center for Performing Arts (DCPA).

Drama Therapist and Inclusive Theater Practitioners Interviews

Coordinated by Prof. Sally Bailey, We have arranged to interview online with around 7 of Drama Therapist Practitioners and professionals in the inclusive theater and drama activities for persons with various disabilities such as; Fran Sillau, an artistic director with cerebral palsy (CP), Lariche Lamar, Founding CEO and Artistic Director at Empowred Theater and Arts at Arizona, Talleri Mcrae, an Access, Inclusion and Education Consultant with CP at Actors Theater of Lousville.

In that interviews, We have talked about how they have been involved in the inclusive theater, their passion and inclusive theater effect on their personal life, besides cooperation ways for future plans in Mulberry Tree (MT).
